Ohio, Arkansas Among Top States for Charitable Giving

As the end of the year approaches, both businesses and individuals often turn their eyes to charitable giving as part of their business, estate, or financial plans. In fact, according to one Digital Giving Index study, approximately 30% of charitable gifts are made in December, with 12% of gifts coming in the last three days of the year.

WalletHub, a personal financial website, recently analyzed giving trends in each state in its report on 2019’s Most Charitable States. The report considered cash donations, volunteer hours, and other measures to rank each state’s generosity.

According to this study, Ohio ranked as the 5th most charitable state in the nation, including 12th in volunteering and service, and 11th in charitable giving. Arkansas was considered the 15th most charitable state, including 21st in volunteering and service, and 12th in charitable giving. Arkansas was also ranked as the top state based on percentage of donated income, but among the lowest for the percentage of population who actually donates.
