To Do List for 2023: Estate Planning

From living healthier to spending less time on social media, new year’s resolutions are everywhere as we begin 2023. One important resolution that does not show up on these lists, however, is completing, reviewing, or updating estate planning documents.

If you have never completed estate planning documents, 2023 is a great time to do so. A 2021 article at Student Doctor Network begins with the basics - what an estate plan is, why you need one, and how to get started.

Perhaps you have completed estate planning documents in the past. Do you know where they are? When is the last time you looked at them?

We encourage clients to review their documents every 3-5 years simply because situations change. For example, the sister you named as a guardian may have moved out of state, or you may have purchased new property. It is important to review your documents regularly to make sure that your current wishes are still reflected.

Of course, what is more important than making a new year’s resolution is following through on that resolution. Contact our office for help with your estate planning needs in 2023.
